Lindy S.Hudis is a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied drama. She is a former actress, having appeared on such television shows as “Sunset Beach” and “Married with Children”. Her romantic murder mystery, Weekends, is currently available from Lachesis Press. She is also a filmmaker, her independent short film “The Lesson”, which she wrote, produced and directed, screened at the Seattle Underground Film Festival. She is co-owner of an independent production company called Impact Motion Pictures. She and her husband Steve, a Hollywood stuntman, have just completed the screenplay adaptation of Charmaine Hammond’s best selling book, “On Toby’s Terms.” She lives in California with her family.

Q: Thank you so much for this interview, (insert first name here)! Can you tell us where you are from?
I am from Los Angeles, California, but I grew up in Tennessee. I also lived in New York City for a few years to attend NYU. I guess you could say I’ve been around.
Q: How did you come up with your title?
It came to me in a dream, no joke. I wanted to write a book about people who stage car accidents to collect insurance money, and I couldn’t think of a title. So I decided to sleep on it. It literally just came to me. Sometimes the best things come to you when you sleep.
Q: They say you can judge a book by its cover. Can you tell us a little about your cover and who designed it?
The cover was designed by Adrian Tatomir Pitariu. I wanted something intriguing, yet subtle. I didn’t want to give too much away. I also wanted to give the reader a sense of foreboding and doom.
Q: Can you tell us something about your book that would make me run out and buy it?
Well, it’s a story that has never been told before, to the best of my knowledge. It is an interesting and unique slant of the mystery/thriller genre. Also, the subject matter is a public safety issue, and more people need to be aware of it.
Q: Are there any messages in this book that you want the reader to know about?
Drive safely! It is the basic premise that if you do something bad, eventually you will get caught.
Q: What was your most favorite chapter to write and why?
The first chapter is the most exciting for me. I have a whole new world, new characters and a new story at my fingertips. I think I love writing the first chapter the best. A whole new world is literally open to you.
Q: Why did you feel you had to write this book?
I was in a minor fender bender several years ago. One of the parties involved decided to pretend that she was seriously injured and decided to sue all the drivers involved. It was a very minor accident, no injuries or damage at all. Anyway, I was so mortified that somebody would actually try to pull this kind of a scam that I decided to channel all of that anger into a story. There are dishonest people out there that are ready and willing to do anything for money, people need to be very careful.
Q: Now, some fun questions – What deep dark secret would you like to share with us?
I have a secret crush on a very famous rock star – but I won’t say which one!
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
London, England. I have never been and have many friends there.
Q: Are you a morning person or a night person?
Morning!
Q: Are there any members in your family who also like to write?
My husband is a writer, too. My kids like to make up stores – future fiction authors?
Q: As a child, were you a dreamer?
Yes, and I still am.
Q: Last but not least, the magic genie has granted you one wish. What would that be?
To be able to eat anything I want!
